We refer to ACTION as a "community referenced, life skills curriculum." Its premise is that every student is capable of living in and enjoying the community. At our School, students accomplish this by actively participating in natural learning environments, such as the food preparation suite, the student apartment or trips to stores and malls. Each student participates as fully as possible, with help from teachers and staff. Meaningful instruction is not limited to the school setting, but can take place in the surrounding community. The ACTION Curriculum concentrates on four areas or domains:

1 Self-management and home living;
2 Recreation and leisure;
3 Functioning in the community, and
4 Vocational training.

Each student's instructional plan promotes acquisition of specific skills.

Both Treasure Trove and ACTION use an Integrated Therapy Model. They are based on best practices in special education and rely on formal and informal assessments to make sure that each child is progressing at the expected rate.
