Horticulture Therapy
Our state-of-the-art, wheelchair accessible greenhouse provides an ideal venue for both day and residential students to learn, explore and engage in a wide range of responsibilities and activities. Classrooms are scheduled on a rotating basis to participate in the School’s horticulture program, which is supervised and directed by a certified horticulture therapist.
Regardless of a student’s level of ability, the greenhouse allows them the chance to dig into the dirt and help grow and maintain plant life. Greenhouse programming encourages social activity, improves memory and direction following skills, provides sensory stimulation and exercise, and rewards nurturing behavior.
