Horticulture Therapy
Our state-of-the-art, wheelchair-accessible greenhouse provides an ideal venue for both day and residential students to learn, explore and engage in a wide range of responsibilities and activities. Classrooms are scheduled on a rotating basis to participate in the School’s horticulture program, which is supervised and directed by a certified horticulture therapist.
Regardless of a student’s level of ability, the greenhouse allows them the chance to dig into the dirt and help grow and maintain plant life. Greenhouse programming encourages social activity, improves memory and direction-following skills, provides sensory stimulation and exercise, and rewards nurturing behavior.
